Generali nella Storia available in bookshops, ph. Massimo Goina

In the introduction, chairman Gabriele Galateri di Genola writes: “Company archives can hold big surprises. But only a very, very few can offer a sense of history like the Archives of Assicurazioni Generali”.

The volumes are the result of lengthy and passionate work on documents conducted by the Historical Archive. Accompanied by an extensive iconography, they reconstruct the Group’s insurance activities on the basis of the original documents, making it possible to retrace turning points for the company and for the overall economic and political landscape. The books contain testimonies of the entrepreneurial and cosmopolitan spirit of the founders, but also stories of events and people that are of relevance not only for the company, from the fire of the La Fenice theatre in Venice to the personal file of Franz Kafka, from Umberto Nobile’s expedition to the North Pole to the innovative insurance coverage policies for the space missions of the 1970s.

The volumes are also enriched by specific people close-ups and essays dedicated, for example, to brand evolution and advertising, as well as tables of corporate representation in the first 150 years of life of the company, from 1831 to 1982.
